Rabbi Harvey J Winokur is a native of New York but has been in Atlanta since 1976. He held positions at The Temple and Temple Sinai before founding Temple Kehillat Chaim located in Roswell in 1982. He remained at Temple Kehillat Chaim until he retired and became Emeritus in 2018.
He has served on the boards of the United Way of Metro Atlanta, the Atlanta Chapter of the American Jewish Committee and the Central Conference of American Rabbis. He received the President’s Award from the Atlanta Chapter for his interfaith and interreligious outreach.
Rabbi Winokur is a Trainer/Facilitator for Prepare-Enrich, a premarital and relationship assessments company. He is also a certified Jewish Spiritual Director.
Since his retirement, Rabbi Winokur has become a trainer and facilitator for the Mussar Institute. Mussar is a one thousand year old Jewish program of self-improvement through the balancing of personal character traits. He currently serves on several of its committees and facilitates the curriculum for several communities online.
Rabbi Winokur lives in Roswell with his wife Donnie, an author, their two golden retrievers and tabby cat. They have two adult children.
